Marouane Fellaini, a Premier League staple who split the last 10 years between Everton and Manchester United, ended his time in England on Friday with a move to Chinese club Shandong Luneng.

United confirmed the transfer in a short statement. The deal is worth £10.5 million, according to ESPN FC's Rob Dawson, who adds Fellaini's pact with Shandong Luneng will pay him roughly £12.2 million annually for three years.

Fellaini signed a new two-year contract with United in June but his role diminished after the firing of Jose Mourinho.

The 31-year-old scored 22 goals in 177 appearances with United, winning the FA Cup in 2015-16, and the League Cup and Europa League in 2016-17.

One of the first signings of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, Fellaini arrived in 2013 from Everton for a reported £27 million. He was often used as a super sub under Mourinho, thrown up top when United were chasing a goal.

The midfielder's last goal was one of the most important of his United career, a 91st-minute winner against Young Boys that sent the Red Devils to the Champions League round of 16.

But the approach changed under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who afforded Fellaini just 31 minutes over United's last nine fixtures.

Fellaini joins former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle at Shandong Luneng.
