AS Monaco officially terminated the employment of manager Thierry Henry on Friday and reappointed the man he replaced just three months ago, Leonardo Jardim.

The team's statement added: "Leonardo Jardim has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club and, together with his technical staff, will take up his duties as of Sunday."

Henry was appointed in October after Jardim was sacked with Monaco sitting 18th in Ligue 1 following just one win in their first nine games. The former Arsenal striker failed to turn the tide, however, winning just four of 20 matches he oversaw in all competitions.

In a statement posted on his Twitter account Friday, Henry wrote: "It is with great sadness that I part company with AS Monaco. Despite the struggles and difficulties that we encountered along my short journey, I have still thoroughly enjoyed my time at this wonderful club."

Jardim led Monaco to back-to-back third-place finishes in 2015 and '16 before steering the club to its first Ligue 1 title in 17 years in 2017, while also reaching the Champions League semifinals.

He'll now try to turn around Monaco's season while incorporating players signed by Henry this month, including former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

Monaco CEO Vadim Vasilyev said at the time of Jardim's sacking that "Leonardo will still be part of the AS Monaco family." Now, that's proven true.
