Egypt coach urges Salah to leave Liverpool if they don't win trophies

Egypt manager Javier Aguirre suggested Mohamed Salah should move on from Liverpool if the Premier League club fails to win trophies in the near future.

Despite the Egyptian star's incredible form since his arrival in 2017 - winning the PFA Player of the Year award after breaking the Premier League's single-season scoring record - Liverpool finished the season without adding any silverware to their trophy cabinets.

"It may be better for him to leave within a season or two if Liverpool doesn't win any titles," Aguirre said, according to Glenn Price of ESPN FC.

The club lost to Real Madrid in last season's Champions League final and has only managed to capture the League Cup (2012) since 2006.

The Merseyside outfit, however, is again set up to make another run at ending its near-30-year trophy drought in the top flight. The Reds, who have lifted England's most-coveted prize 18 times, last experienced success in the first division in 1989 - three years before the Premier League's inaugural season.

A year after scoring 44 goals - including 32 in the Premier League to break Alan Shearer, Luis Suarez, and Cristiano Ronaldo's joint record in a 38-game season - Salah has scored eight goals in all competitions this term.

Liverpool remain unbeaten in the Premier League but sit two points back in second place behind defending champions Manchester City.
