Bayern Munich completed the signing of Marcel Sabitzer from RB Leipzig on Monday, the defending Bundesliga champions announced.

The 27-year-old put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will keep him at Bayern until 2025.

Bayern finalized the deal after reportedly agreeing to pay €16 million for the Austrian midfielder, who captained RB Leipzig last season.

"Marcel Sabitzer offers everything that an FC Bayern player needs. On top of that, he won’t need long to settle in as he’s already well-acquainted with the philosophy of our coach Julian Nagelsmann,” said Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn.

Sabitzer, who joined Leipzig in 2014, played under Nagelsmann for two years before the German manager's move to Bavaria.

He ends his Leipzig career with 52 goals in 229 appearances.
