Bayern coach Kompany: Olise has 'chance' to be global icon

Vincent Kompany said that Michael Olise could become one of the world's best footballers after the France international starred with a brace in Bayern Munich's 6-1 thumping of Atalanta in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Olise was all over the pitch and drew applause from Atalanta's passionate home support when he crashed home his second of the night, and Bayern's fifth in the 64th minute.

"He arrived with a mentality that gives him a chance to be one of the best players in the world," Kompany told reporters. 

"I don't want to compare the players, because they are not the same players at all. But the mentality, when I played with Kevin De Bruyne, I was lucky to watch him come through as a young player and see him become a superstar, a world star. 

"It is that obsession for detail. And Michael has that. It's not enough. So I think we have to push him to do more. But he's on a very good trajectory and it's a pleasure to witness it."

Bayern will face one of Real Madrid or Manchester City in the quarter finals as long as they manage to avoid a historic collapse in the second leg next week.
