Emre Can's nightmare season at Juventus is almost over.

Borussia Dortmund have agreed to sign the German midfielder on loan with an obligation to make the move permanent at the end of the season, reports Fabrizio Romano of the Guardian.

Can, 26, is expected to undergo a medical on Friday before completing the switch back to the Bundesliga.

In total, the deal is expected to cost Dortmund €30 million, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Can has endured a wildly frustrating season under new manager Maurizio Sarri in Turin. After appearing to establish himself as a key contributor last season, when Massimiliano Allegri was at the helm, he's largely been frozen out of the team since Sarri's arrival.

The German international, in need of playing time ahead of Euro 2020 this summer, was surprisingly left out of Juventus' Champions League squad, and has only recorded 281 minutes - and just two starts - in Serie A this year.

In returning to the Bundesliga, Can, who spent time at both Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen earlier in his career, should help solidify a Borussia Dortmund midfield that has been hampered by injuries to both Thomas Delaney and Axel Witsel.
