Already missing key starters through a combination of suspension and injury, Liverpool could also be without Roberto Firmino when they host Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Firmino missed training Monday with a virus, reports James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo, and the striker's status for the last-16 clash with the Bavarian side is now in doubt.

There's hope the 27-year-old Brazilian will recover in time for the first leg, according to Pearce, but the late development disrupts manager Jurgen Klopp's already makeshift plans. Virgil van Dijk is suspended, Dejan Lovren is still battling a hamstring injury, and Xherdan Shaqiri is suffering from abdominal pains.

If Firmino can't play, Daniel Sturridge would likely join Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah up front. Sturridge started two of Liverpool's group-stage matches and scored the opening goal in a wild 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain in September.
