Tottenham Hotspur will be spared from facing Luis Suarez in Tuesday's vital Group G decider.

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde - whose club is guaranteed to advance from the quartet in first place - confirmed Suarez will miss the matchup with Spurs, as relayed by Omnisport. However, Valverde also said he'll respect the Champions League and field a competitive starting lineup.

"We're expecting a tough game against a very strong side, who have qualification for the next stage at stake," Valverde said in Monday's press conference. "We'll be going for the win."

Suarez played 79 minutes and scored in Barcelona's 4-0 victory at rivals Espanyol over the weekend.

"There are sure to be rotations tomorrow," Valverde added. "We just had a big game on Saturday. Every game is an opportunity to show what you're capable of doing."

Meanwhile, Samuel Marsden of ESPN is under the impression that goaltender Jasper Cillessen will start against Tottenham over regular first choice Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

A Lionel Messi masterclass guided Barcelona to a 4-2 triumph at Tottenham in October. The north London club can advance to the round of 16 if it matches or betters Inter's result in a concurrent clash with PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.
