Montreal Alouettes starting quarterback Antonio Pipkin left Friday's Week 1 matchup with the Edmonton Eskimos in the third quarter with an apparent ankle injury.

Pipkin was dropped for a loss before he was taken to the sidelines where his right ankle underwent evaluation by the Als' medical staff.

He was replaced by backup Vernon Adams Jr.

Pipkin was 7-for-17 for 57 yards and a touchdown with Montreal trailing 18-8 before exiting.
