Saskatchewan Roughriders pivot Zach Collaros was taken to the locker room after a blow to the helmet on the third play of Thursday's season opener against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Collaros slid feetfirst after a gain of seven yards and took a shot to the facemask from Tiger-Cats linebacker Simoni Lawrence. The quarterback had to be helped off the field and exchanged words with Lawrence before heading to the locker room.
Hamilton was assessed a 25-yard roughing the passer penalty on the play.
Cody Fajardo took over at quarterback for Saskatchewan and capped the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run.
Collaros returned to the sideline after the second series without his pads on, likely signaling the end of the night for him.
