The Ottawa Redblacks signed former BC Lions quarterback Jonathon Jennings to a one-year contract Wednesday.

Jennings will likely replace former Redblacks starter Trevor Harris, who signed a two-year deal with the Edmonton Eskimos on Tuesday. Jennings' final choices were the Redblacks and the Toronto Argonauts, according to Justin Dunk of 3 Down Nation.

"We are very excited to add a player of Jonathon's pedigree to our roster," said general manager Marcel Desjardins. "His experience and ability will add depth and competition to the Redblacks QB position."

Ottawa's quarterback group also includes Dominique Davis, Danny Collins, and Will Arndt.

The 26-year-old from Columbus, OH. had spent his entire CFL career with the Lions prior to the move. He played 10 games in 2018, throwing for 1,628 yards and eight touchdowns with seven interceptions. He added 226 yards on the ground.

His best statistical season came in 2016 when he passed for 5,226 yards and 27 touchdowns against 15 interceptions while adding four rushing scores.

The Lions signed former Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly to a four-year, $2.9-million contract Monday.
