German international defender Benjamin Henrichs has torn an Achilles tendon in his right foot and is expected to be sidelined for several months, his club side Leipzig said Saturday.
The 27-year-old picked up the injury late in Friday's 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich and was stretched off.
Leipzig said Henrichs will undergo surgery in Munich on Monday and is expected to be out for several months.
Marco Rose's side are already without Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons and French defender Castello Lukeba to injury.
Leipzig are fourth in the Bundesliga table nine points behind leaders Bayern.
