A day after Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke suggested Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang only joined Arsenal for the money, the 30-year-old snapped back, calling the outspoken executive a "clown" and accusing him of greed.

Aubameyang left Dortmund for the Gunners in January 2018 for a reported €63 million and tied for the lead in Premier League scoring last season. Still, Watzke took a shot at the Arsenal striker for missing out on Europe's top club competition this year.

"Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is playing brilliantly for Arsenal, probably gets a warm heart when he looks at his bank balance," Watzke said, according to The Associated Press. "But Wednesday he is sad as he only looks at the Champions League on TV."

Aubameyang responded on Twitter:

Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele struck up a friendship over a single season at Dortmund. Dembele then left in June 2017 in a €105-million transfer to Barcelona.
