Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly interested in resuming his coaching career in the Bavarian capital.

According to the Telegraph's Matt Law, Wenger is monitoring the situation at Bayern Munich in hopes of a return to management with the Bundesliga behemoth.

It could be a reciprocal admiration, with reports suggesting Bayern's board has discussed recruiting the ex-Gunners gaffer as a replacement for first-year bench boss Niko Kovac.

Kovac's job is in question with Bayern sitting in fifth place through 12 league matches, nine points adrift of rivals Borussia Dortmund. The latest dent was a 3-3 draw with second-from-bottom Fortuna Dusseldorf, during which the six-time reigning Bundesliga champs conceded a two-goal advantage.

Wenger has said he hopes to return to work in the new year, while reports claimed the 69-year-old declined an advance from Fulham, who eventually replaced outgoing Slavisa Jokanovic with Claudio Ranieri. Le Professeur has also been linked with the technical director position at Paris Saint-Germain, though he'd apparently prefer to coach.

The Frenchman left Arsenal in the summer following a decorated 22-year spell in north London, where he famously guided the club to 10 major domestic honors - including "The Invincibles" campaign in 2003-04 - and earned three Premier League Manager of the Season nods.
