The BIG3 is canceling its 2020 season in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic but plans to resume play in the summer of 2021, the league announced on Monday.

"Ultimately, we need the fan experience and the games themselves to be great. While other leagues have more immediate financial considerations, as a rising league, we need to put the fan experience above all and ensure each season is better than the one before," the statement said.

The three-on-three league originally scheduled its fourth season to begin on June 20, but reportedly had to delay that start date before now deciding to cancel it entirely.

Additionally, the BIG3's preseason reality show, "BIG3: Not in My House" - which was also previously delayed - will now air sometime between now and the start of next summer. The league said it had to wait until network studio production scheduling stabilized before proceeding.
