Rising teenage star Felix Auger-Aliassime has withdrawn from the French Open due to injury, Tennis Canada announced Sunday.

The Canadian suffered a groin injury in his semifinal match at the Lyon Open and then re-aggravated it in the first set of Sunday's final against Benoit Paire, according to Tennis Canada's Tom Tebbutt.

An MRI revealed that Auger-Aliassime suffered a Grade 1 tear in his groin that should heal in the next 10 days. He told reporters that he plans to play in two weeks at the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart and that he has no pain in normal movements, according to Tebbutt.

"If I had played five sets on clay, I run the risk of worsening the lesions," Auger-Aliassime said during a press conference, according to The Canadian Press. "This is why we decided I should pull back."

Auger-Aliassime is set to reach a career-high ranking of No. 22 on Monday due to his second-place finish in Lyon, and he's the youngest player within the ATP's top 25. The 18-year-old is one of the game's brightest prospects and has made two ATP finals this season.
