Voynov blames 'bad translation' for comments about teammate Quick in Sochi

A very close game between the United States and Team Russia at the Sochi Olympics saw a disallowed goal steal momentum away from the Russians.

After the game, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov, who was playing for Russia, told reporters he believed Team USA and Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick intentionally pushed the net off its moorings. "I can tell you myself, because I am his teammate and I play with him. It is in his style to do something like that." Voynov reportedly told reporters in Russian.

Voynov told Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider he was mistranslated by Russian reporters. "It’s a bad translation from a Russian reporter. After the game I asked him, ‘Did you read that? Did you move the net?’ He said, ‘No, I promise.'"

Quick insisted there were no hard feelings over Voynov's comment and chalked it up to "media spinning words."
