Russian skier Maria Komissarova left paralyzed following crash in Sochi

Russian freestyle skier Maria Komissarova revealed on Wednesday that her crash during a training run at the Winter Olympics has left her paralyzed from the waist down. 

Despite undergoing two surgeries, Komissarova posted a picture on her Instagram account and revealed her paralysis. 

In addition to the picture, the 23-year-old added the following caption: 

"I do not feel my body lower than my belly button. But I am strong and know that some day I will definitely be on my feet again," Komissarova said via a translation by the BBC.
