Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confines squad to indefinite training camp
Manager Rafael Benitez appears to have already handed control of Napoli's squad over to club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
With reports claiming that Benitez will leave the Stadio San Paolo at the end of the season, De Laurentiis took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that he's sending his club's players to a training camp indefinitely.
The move comes after Napoli were recently eliminated in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia and ahead of the team's Europa League quarterfinal tie versus VfL Wolfsburg, who many have tipped to win the competition.
"I've decide that the squad will go into training camp indefinitely," De Laurentiis wrote, according to the Guardian. "Napoli is a city full of distractions and now is the time for maximum concentration. Success has to be based on discipline."
Members of Napoli's staff have opposed De Laurentiis, but the president insists that he holds the final say on the matter.
