Monchengladbach stages rampant comeback to stun Fiorentina

Never say never.

Fiorentina saw a 3-0 aggregate lead evaporate Thursday as Borussia Monchengladbach scored four times in a 16-minute spell to book a spot in the last 16 of the Europa League.

A hat trick from Lars Stindl and an opportunistic header from on-loan Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen clinched the comeback victory after goals from Fiorentina's Nikola Kalinic and Borja Valero threatened to end the tie.

Instead, La Viola ended up doing something it has never done before: concede four goals at home in a European match.

Stindl's careful penalty in the 44th minute kick-started the offensive from the visiting side. He added to his tally immediately after the interval, tucking in a second goal before his low drive off a free-kick completed the hat trick performance:
