Tiger Woods remained noncommittal Sunday when asked at the Quicken Loans National if there was any chance he'll be healthy enough to play in a PGA Tour event this calendar year.

"I don't know," Woods said during the broadcast, according to ESPN's Kevin Maguire. "I want to play. Put it that way. I want to play. I don't know if I will. But I do want to. But I'm trying. I'm trying each and every day I'm doing my workouts. ... I'm working my tail off."

Earlier in the week, Woods expressed frustration over not being able to play in his annual tournament at Congressional, which was won Sunday by first-ever PGA victor Billy Hurley III. Before presenting Hurley with the winning trophy, Woods reiterated that he'll take as much time as he needs in an effort to avoid a fourth back procedure.

"I'm going to do it right so I don't have another surgery," Woods said.

Woods, who last played in a PGA Tour event in August 2015, told reporters Wednesday that he can play a round, spend long hours on the range, and doesn't feel physically limited in his home and family life. Competing in a professional golf event, however, remains another story.

"I guess I still need to get in golf shape," he said.
