Canadiens recall Fucale, reassign Tokarski to AHL

Goaltender Zachary Fucale has been recalled from the St. John's IceCaps, while Dustin Tokarski has been reassigned to the AHL club, the Montreal Canadiens announced Monday.

The move is precipitated by the announcement that Carey Price will be sidelined an additional six weeks with a lower-body injury, and with a view to give Tokarski some much-needed playing time.

Tokarski last saw game action in relief of now-starter Mike Condon on Nov.14, allowing two goals on 13 shots. The IceCaps play three games in the next few days - Dec. 2, 4, and 5 - meaning that if all goes to plan, Tokarski will get some starts under his belt before assuming the NHL backup role.

Fucale, meanwhile, has posted a 7-2-1 record with a GAA of 3.12 and a save percentage of .907 in 12 AHL starts. This marks his first call up to the NHL since being drafted 36th overall by Montreal in 2013.
