Jones posts back-to-back shutouts, trade looking good early for Sharks

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The early returns on the Martin Jones trade are excellent for the San Jose Sharks.

Jones recorded his second straight shutout Tuesday night, as the Sharks blanked the Alex Ovechkin-less Washington Capitals 5-0 in the U.S. capital. He made 30 saves, helping the Sharks - and himself - to a 3-0 start this season. San Jose's outscored the opposition 12-1.

The 25-year-old, who has stopped 46 of 47 shots in three games, is on the verge of making Sharks history:

Not a bad way for him to endear himself to his new teammates.

Jones was traded twice over the offseason, from the Los Angeles Kings to the Boston Bruins in the Milan Lucic deal, and then from Boston to San Jose for a first-round pick in 2016 and prospect Sean Kuraly.
