Long-time Philadelphia Flyers owner Ed Snider will be absent from his team's home opener Monday against the Florida Panthers as he recovers from "recent medical therapy."

The 82-year-old is resting in California and "feels fine," a company spokesperson told Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post.

"As far as I know, he's doing well," general manager Ron Hextall said. "He was in a good mood. He's out in California. I think everything's fine. He's excited about the team."

Snider told reporters during training camp he believed his Flyers would return to the playoffs this season, but the team will have to improve quickly if they're to do that, after opening the 2015-16 campaign with two consecutive losses.
