McIlrath to take Boyle's spot in Rangers' lineup Tuesday vs. Jets

Dylan McIlrath is set to make his fourth NHL start Tuesday in place of a fellow defenseman with more than a thousand of them to his name.

Dan Boyle will make way for the 10th overall selection in 2010 when the 3-0 Rangers host the Winnipeg Jets.

The decision, as head coach Alain Vigneault told reporters after Monday's practice, was made to reward McIlrath for his strong training camp, and perhaps send a message.

"Boyle can play better than he has so far," Vigneault said.
