Report: Burmistrov won't face further discipline for hit on Bergeron

Winnipeg Jets forward Alex Burmistrov will avoid further punishment for his hit to the head of Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron, an NHL spokesman told Pro Hockey Talk's Mike Halford.

Burmistrov caught Bergeron with a shoulder to the head late in the first period of Thursday's 6-2 Jets' victory.

Burmistrov was assessed a minor penalty, which was enough in the eyes of the NHL's Department of Player Safety because the play didn’t have enough force to cause injury, a source told CSN New England's Joe Haggerty.

When asked about the hit after the game, Bruins head coach Claude Julien said he was hoping to see the league take further action.

“Especially when it’s to an elite player in the league that’s had some (concussion) issues in the past," Julien said.

"I hope (the Department of Player Safety) looks at it seriously, and in my mind I don’t know why there wouldn’t be further consequences to that.”
