Luke Schenn cracks Flyers' opening-night lineup, Gudas will sit

Luke Schenn will be in the Philadelphia Flyers' lineup on opening night despite spending much of training camp well down the depth chart.

The 25-year-old edged out Radko Gudas, who will watch the team's first game from the press box.

Schenn skated with a since-waived and demoted Andrew MacDonald for much of training camp, and will play alongside Evgeny Medvedev against Tampa Bay on Thursday.

"Pretty much all week long, Luke's been in that position; he's been rock solid from the start of camp," head coach Dave Hakstol said Wednesday, according to Sam Carchidi of Philly.com. "He's competed hard. I think it's a good pair when you look at what the two guys bring."
