Sabres' Gionta suffers lower-body injury in practice

Buffalo Sabres captain Brian Gionta is day to day with a lower-body injury, head coach Dan Bylsma announced Wednesday.

Gionta suffered the injury toward the end of practice Tuesday, according to Bylsma. There was speculation of an injury after the 36-year-old missed a scheduled media interview.

The Sabres kick off their 2015-16 season Thursday when the Ottawa Senators come to town.
