Veteran Glencross after 2 failed tryouts: 'Don’t know what’s going to happen'
Free-agent forward Curtis Glencross is doing his best to remain positive despite failing to ink a deal for the 2015-16 season.
Glencross went unsigned during the summer before agreeing to professional tryout deals with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche, failing to stick with either, thus leaving his hockey career in doubt.
"I don’t know what’s going to happen," Glencross told Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun. "I’m staying positive, but obviously, there are emotions there that I may never play another NHL game or hockey again."
Glencross's options include another NHL team or playing in Europe. The 32-year-old resides in Calgary and would love to stay in the city given everything the Flames have done for him, including a video tribute during a preseason game between the Avalanche and Flames.
"I definitely had to take a moment to regroup when they did a little tribute to me at that game," said Glencross. "That just goes to show the classiness of the Flames ownership group and the respect they have for their players. I’ll never forget that moment, and for that, I really want to say thanks to the team and the fans. I’ll always remember the support from the media and fans."
Glencross notched 134 goals and 275 points in 507 career games.
