Toronto Maple Leafs prospects William Nylander and Kasperi Kapanen were among nearly a dozen players assigned to the AHL's Toronto Marlies on Sunday.

The Leafs sent 11 players to their cross-town affiliate, including Connor Brown, Zach Hyman, Rich Clune, Antoine Bibeau, Viktor Loov, Stuart Percy, Nikita Soshnikov, Garret Sparks, and Rinat Valiev.

Five players were placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Marlies. T.J. Brennan, Andrew Campbell, Sam Carrick, Matt Frattin, and Byron Froese will need to clear waivers before being sent down.

Nylander was the Leafs' eighth overall pick in 2014.

Kapanen was selected 14 picks later by the Pittsburgh Penguins, and was acquired by Toronto in the Phil Kessel trade.
