Noah Hanifin may have made the Carolina Hurricanes.

The fifth-overall pick in June's draft was not among Saturday's cuts announced by Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis.

Hanifin, 18, notched 23 points in 37 games for Boston College last season.

Haydn Fleury, the Hurricanes' seventh-overall selection in 2014, was returned to the WHL's Red Deer Rebels.

Defenseman Brett Pesce and Jaccob Slavin, along with forwards Brock McGinn and Derek Ryan, were assigned to the AHL's Charlotte Checkers.

The Hurricanes roster now stands at 22 players.
