The Bakersfield Condors and Stockton Heat will play an outdoor game in California this winter.

The AHL affiliates of the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, respectively, will play a regular-season game at Raley Field in West Sacramento, Calif., on Dec. 18.

The Condors and Heat are part of the league's new Pacific Division, in which five of the seven teams are based in California.

“This event will be a special showcase for our Pacific Division in its inaugural season,” AHL president and CEO David Andrews said. “We look forward to this celebration of hockey outdoors and to sharing the experience with the terrific hockey fans in Northern California.”

It will be the first AHL regular-season outdoor game ever held on the West Coast. Previous editions of the annual event took place in Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Ontario (Canada), and Connecticut.
