Canadiens' Galchenyuk: 'I expect to have a great year'

After signing a two-year, $5.6-million contract Friday, Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Galchenyuk has high expectations for the upcoming season.

"I expect to have a great year. I'm focused, and I can't wait to get started. I'm excited for the team," Galchenyuk said in a conference call Friday.

The 21-year-old remains unsure as to where he'll slot in with the club next season, but admits he's open to anything, including playing alongside Alexander Semin.

"At center or on the wing, I'm comfortable playing either, I'll play wherever I'm needed to help the team," said Galchenyuk. "I would definitely love to play with him (Semin). He's a skilled player and over the years he has shown that he can score a lot of goals."

Galchenyuk set career-highs with 20 goals and 46 points in 80 games last season.
