Coyotes name Jon Elkin, Corey Schwab goalie coaches

It seems it takes two people to replace what Sean Burke brought to the Arizona Coyotes.

On Tuesday, Coyotes general manager Don Maloney announced the hiring of Jon Elkin and Corey Schwab as the clubs' goaltending coaches.

Burke - who held the position since 2009 - left the post earlier this year in pursuit of a front office position elsewhere.

Elkin runs his own goalie school out of Toronto, and has worked with Coyotes starter Mike Smith for a number of years. He has coached at the NHL, AHL, and junior hockey levels, and spent three seasons as the goaltending coach for the Calgary Flames (1999-2002).

Schwab spent the past eight seasons with the San Jose Sharks organization as a goaltending development coach. He played eight NHL seasons, posting a record of 42-63-13 record with an .896 save percentage in 147 games with the New Jersey Devils, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vancouver Canucks, and Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Coyotes boasted a team save percentage of .902 in 2014-15, meaning Elkin and Schwab have their work cut out for them in advance of a new season.
