The Toronto Maple Leafs may be looking to stockpile young talent, but that doesn't mean they won't welcome toughness.

The team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, signed forward Rich Clune to an AHL contract, the team announced Sunday.

The deal means Clune will attend the Maple Leafs' training camp, which opens Sept. 17.

The 28-year-old made headlines this past week after he posted a tell-all story on The Players' Tribune about his battle with alcoholism and addiction.

Clune has 120 NHL games under his belt. He's suited up for the Los Angeles Kings and Nashville Predators, recording seven goals, 18 points, and 305 penalty minutes.
