Kids know best.

As it became clear that Justin Williams wasn't going to return to the Los Angeles Kings - largely due to salary cap restraints - his seven-year-old devised the perfect plan.

Williams, who did indeed sign a two-year, $6.5-million deal with the Washington Capitals late Wednesday, was able to share the good news the morning after.

In regards to what Williams can expect on the ice, he said head coach Barry Trotz has assured him he'd be a big part of the team.

And while he was disappointed to miss the playoffs in his final year with the Kings, Williams added the extra rest was good for his 34-year-old body.

His knack for scoring in big games is something that could certainly help the Capitals get over the hump next spring.
