Zack Kassian 'looking forward to making big gains' with Canadiens

Maybe all Zack Kassian needs is a fresh start.

That's exactly what he's going to get after being traded from the Vancouver Canucks to the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. Drafted 13th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 2009, the would-be power forward has yet to find his footing at the NHL level, but maintains he's ready to take that next step.

"You have to show up every night," Kassian said Thursday. "Over the years I’ve really matured and I’m looking forward to making big gains this season."

And he'll use all the tools at his disposal to do so.

Kassian further acknowledged he's had back issues in the past, but deemed himself fully healthy and ready to go.

In 42 games with the Canucks this past season, Kassian scored 10 goals and added six assists.
