Brendan Shanahan says he will offer deposition in NHL concussion lawsuit

Brendan Shanahan will shift his focus from rebuilding the Toronto Maple Leafs at some point this summer, even if it is only for a couple hours.

The Leafs president and NHL's former director of player safety responded to accusations of refusing to cooperate in the concussion lawsuit brought against the league, saying he's glad to give testimony.

"I was never opposed to giving a deposition," Shanahan said in a statement retrieved by TSN's Rick Westhead.

"My response was that I was happy to cooperate and I provided upcoming dates that hopefully work for both sides. My understanding is that it is in the process of being scheduled."

Sixty former players are suing the NHL, accusing it of failing to protect players from head injuries and exposing them to long-term health issues.
