Spirits are high for fun-loving Flames as they look to rebound vs. Ducks in Game 2

The Calgary Flames are shaking off their awful performance from Game 1 against the Anaheim Ducks.

The young Flames squad was bullied by the larger Ducks and fell 6-1 on Thursday, but head coach Bob Hartley isn't going to let that suck the life out of his team.

"Two days ago we had a meeting, we did video and then we kicked them out of the building. We told them to go have a nice meal, go and have fun as a group," Hartley said. "Yesterday we had a great practice. Last night we had a team meal with everyone.

"Look at the fun, the energy that they have this morning. They’re a bunch of kids. Maybe we don’t feel pressure. We understand where we’re at."

Calgary forward Joe Colborne thinks that being in sunny California helps ease the pain and agrees with Hartley's assessment that the team just needed to get away and forget the loss.

"Being out here where the weather is nice and you can step away from the game for a day and clear your mind," he said. "That's going to be key, especially with young guys that haven't been there that haven't suffered a loss like that in the post season."

The Flames, who are a big underdog against the Western Conference champion Ducks, will look to improve on their Game 1 performance as the teams meet again Sunday.
