PHOTOS: Jets fans bring whiteout back to Winnipeg

Often imitated, never replicated: no one does a whiteout like Winnipeg Jets fans.

The Jets revived the tradition for Winnipeg's first home playoff game in 19 years, supplying white towels and advising fans to wear white from head to toe. Fans appear to be taking the instructions to another level.

"I know other teams have tried to imitate the whiteout, but they're just cheap imitations of the real thing," Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman told NHL.com. "The whiteout is like a winter blizzard here. It's our tradition. It started here."

Jets fans are also bringing their trademark loudness to the contest. Crowd noise hit 100 decibels during warmups.
