Blackhawks turn to Scott Darling for Game 3 vs. Predators

Scott Darling, come on down.

Chicago Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville has called on the backup netminder to start Sunday's Game 3 against the Nashville Predators, benching Corey Crawford in the process.

The decision comes the day after Crawford gave up six goals on 35 shots in a 6-2 Game 2 loss. Darling, meanwhile, stopped all 42 shots he faced in relief of Crawford in 67:44 of ice time during Game 1, a double-overtime Blackhawks victory.

Crawford was the undisputed No. 1 option during the regular season, posting a record of 32-20-5 with a .924 save percentage. Darling, however, was very effective in his limited playing time, with a record of 7-4-1 and a .936 save percentage.

Darling has outplayed Crawford through two games in the series, and will now have a shot at helping his team jump out to a 2-1 series lead with a win on Sunday.
