Prospective owner plans to dangle financial incentives of playing in Las Vegas

There's money to be made in Las Vegas, but there's also money to be retained.

And that's how prospective owner Bill Foley plans to lure top-end talent to Sin City should Hockey Vision Las Vegas indeed land an expansion NHL franchise.

"I can go to every guy in California and say, 'The first thing I'm gonna do is save you 14 percent. That's what you're paying over there,'" Foley told the Las Vegas Sun. "And how about the Canadians? … They pay a ton."

It does sound like a considerable advantage, but remember: the Florida Panthers don't pay state taxes and, for the most part, settle for free agent overspill. The Montreal Canadiens, meanwhile, are one of the more desired options in the NHL but are hit hardest by taxes.
