Maple Leafs to grant wish for young boy stricken with illness

Eric Bolte / USA TODAY Sports

It doesn't matter what's happening on or off the ice - there's always room to do some good.

And the Toronto Maple Leafs will do just that Saturday.

Garrett Gamble Jr., an 11-year-old fan from Saskatchewan suffering from a rare disease called Morquio syndrome, is being flown in to meet Brendan Shanahan to sign a one-day contract with the Maple Leafs as part of the Children's Wish Foundation.

He will also lead the team onto the ice for Saturday's game versus the Ottawa Senators and drop the puck for the ceremonial faceoff between Dion Phaneuf and Erik Karlsson.
