If there has been one shining light during a very dark season for the Arizona Coyotes, it would have to be the play of Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
With his 21st goal of the season in a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres Thursday, Ekman-Larsson set a record for the most goals scored in a single season by a Swedish defenseman.
Ekman-Larsson separated himself from the likes of Erik Karlsson, Nicklas Lidstrom and Fredrik Olausson, who all held a piece of the record with 20-goal seasons.
The record-breaking goal was scored on a point shot in the second period that tied the game 2-2.

Ekman-Larsson leads the team in goals and points with 40.
