VIDEO: Predators score 2 goals in 40 seconds vs. Lightning

Bruce Fedyck / USA TODAY Sports

The Nashville Predators took a quick stranglehold of their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.

The Predators struck for two goals in 40 seconds before the game was even five minutes old.

Mike Ribeiro opened the scoring at the 3:28 mark, tipping a Roman Josi point shot between the legs of Ben Bishop.

Then, just 40 seconds later, after Taylor Beck laid a big hit on Mark Barberio, Beck rifled a shot at Bishop, who deflected it away, but Paul Gaustad was Johnny on the spot to knock the puck out of mid-air and in.

Both teams are hoping to hit the 100-point plateau tonight.
