Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin joined his teammates on the ice Thursday for the first time in nearly three weeks.

The Stars center participated in the morning skate and stayed on the ice to do extra work with assistant coaches Curt Fraser and James Patrick, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.

Seguin was skating for the first time since suffering a knee injury on Feb. 13, when he was hit by Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov. The hit earned Kulikov a four-game suspension.

Seguin told reporters last week his recovery was ahead of schedule after originally being given a three-to-six week timetable, and head coach Lindy Ruff indicated Thursday the star forward could be back within the next week.

"Tyler is really closing in on day-to-day for us. I would say within a week, or sooner," Ruff said. "It depends on how he responds to some heavy workouts today and tomorrow where he is at."

Seguin was among the league's scoring leaders at the time of the injury, racking up 29 goals and adding 30 assists in 55 games.

The Stars are six points back of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with 18 games to go.
