Ducks reclaim NHL's top spot with victory over Canadiens

John Gibson made 37 saves as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 on Wednesday night.

With the victory, the Ducks reclaimed the best record in the league (42-17-7).

Francois Beauchemin scored in the first period and Richard Rakell tallied in the second, while defenseman Cam Fowler added a shorthanded empty-netter from his own end late in the final frame to ice the victory.

Canadiens goalie Carey Price stopped 30 of 32 shots in a losing cause.

The Ducks now have 91 points in the Western Conference standings, putting them two points clear of the Nashville Predators, who have lost four consecutive games.

Anaheim has won four in a row and seven of their last eight contests.
