VIDEO: Blue Jackets' Boll runs over unsuspecting Latta vs. Capitals

Greg Bartram / USA Today

Michael Latta left Tuesday's game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Washington Capitals after a dangerous hit by Jared Boll.

Latta went to play the puck along the side boards in Washington's zone when Boll lined him up. The initial contact was high and appeared to catch at least part of Latta's head.

Tom Wilson challenged Boll to a fight in the ensuing scrum. Boll was assessed a charging penalty on the play, while Wilson received an instigator penalty for the fight.

Capitals coach Barry Trotz did not offer an update for Latta after the game.
