The Toronto Maple Leafs have scooped a defenseman off the waiver wire.

The club has reportedly claimed Tim Erixon from the Chicago Blackhawks, as first reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet and later confirmed by the club.

Erixon, 25, was drafted 23rd overall by Calgary in 2009, and has recorded one goal and 12 assists in 78 career NHL games.

The soon-to-be restricted free agent is on a one-way contract that carries a $600,000 cap hit.
