Cross another name off the trade target list in advance of Monday's deadline.

The Calgary Flames have traded forward Curtis Glencross to the Washington Capitals for a second- and a third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, Washington has announced.

"Curtis is a player we coveted and we are pleased that he decided to waive his no-trade clause to join our team," Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan said. "We felt we needed to get deeper and more experienced at the forward position. Curtis plays important minutes and his presence on-and-off the ice will benefit our young forwards."

Glencross, 32, is in the final year of a contract that carries a $2.55-million cap hit and is set to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end, making him an ideal rental candidate for the Capitals.

In 53 games for the Flames in 2014-15, Glencross scored nine goals and added 19 assists. He is, however, only a few years removed from back-to-back 20-plus goals seasons, including 26 scored in 67 games in 2011-12.

Glencross has appeared in only six playoff games over the course of his career, registering three assists in 2009.

With this deal, the Capitals are banking on a nice improvement on those numbers this postseason.
